Gladiators viewers slammed the rules of the show after a contestant had to be replaced during Saturday’s episode. Chung was forced to leave the competition during the semi final of the BBC show due to an injury he sustained in the Power Ball challenge.
The BBC series sees contestants compete against the gladiators in a series of challenges. Although they wear protective gear, they can sustain injuries.
During the Power Ball challenge Chung was tackled by Apollo, one of the gladiators, and the challenge had to be paused while he was taken off for medical treatment. The women’s challenge then went ahead before viewers were then told that Chung would have to leave the contest.

It was then revealed that Matt, who completed in the heats, would step up to replace Chung. He ultimately lost out to Wesley.
Appearing on crutches, Chung said: “I’m disappointed to not be able to finish this race, but the support I’ve had from the crowd has been incredible and it’s really helping.”
Fans of the show were confused over the decision to bring in Matt. They took to X, formerly known as Twitter to express their concerns. @goodkingjon said: “So Wesley is now joined by an actual fastest loser? It is is so weird that he was here to begin with and people who should have been here instead of him are now roped in. Chung deserved the win, I’m annoyed lol.”
