The broadcaster took to social media to share the sad news. Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, he said: "NEWS ABOUT ME: I’m moving on from @BBCNews.
This weekend will be my last, after 20+ years on the staff.
"I started at @BBCR1, then to Westminster, then the best job - foreign correspondent.
