Austin Butler and Cate Blanchett have added another award to each of their collections!
The two entertainers won the awards for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively, at the 2023 EE BAFTA Film Awards held at The Royal Festival Hall on Sunday (February 19) in London, England.
Austin picked up the award for Best Actor for Elvis, beating out The Banshees of Inisherin‘s Colin Farrell, The Whale‘s Brendan Fraser, Good Luck to You Leo Grande‘s Daryl McCormack, Aftersun‘s Paul Mescal, and Living‘s Bill Nighy.
Cate won Best Actress for her work in TAR, beating out The Woman King‘s Viola Davis, Blonde‘s Ana de Armas, Till‘s Danielle Deadwyler, Good Luck to You Leo Grande‘s Emma Thompson, and Everything Everywhere All at Once‘s Michelle Yeoh.

Considering the breathless ease of “Everything Everywhere All At Once’s” award season so far, it’s sort of remarkable how many categories are up for grabs when the Academy Awards begin on Sunday evening. Oscar’s top prize is pretty much all locked up and should reward A24 with their second Best Picture win in less than 12 years of existence.
Elvis director Baz Lurhmann has unveiled the deluxe edition of the movie’s soundtrack, which features a raft of previously unreleased recordings from Austin Butler.“The whole Elvis music team has answered the call from fans with this new Deluxe Edition of the Elvis soundtrack,” said Luhrmann in a statement.“Featuring everything from previously unreleased recordings by Austin Butler to contemporary takes on Elvis’s classics and a fresh mash-up with the Backstreet Boys, the Deluxe album reveals all the complex layers of Austin’s performance, Elvis’s music and those who continue his legacy.”The deluxe edition – which is now available across music streaming platforms – boasts 52 songs in total, 15 more than the standard edition.The previously unreleased recordings by Butler include ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, ‘Heartbreak Hotel’, ‘Crawfish’ (which was recorded live on set), and ‘Are You Lonesome Tonight?’.Additional contemporary takes on Elvis’ songs inlcude G-Dragon‘s cover of ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’, and Kacey Musgraves‘ version of the same song with Mark Robson.You can view listen to the deluxe edition below.Austin Butler’s performance as Elvis Presley has earned him a Best Actor nomination at this year’s Oscars.

Oscars slap in his opening speech at the BAFTAs 2023.During the ceremony on Tuesday (February 19) at London’s Royal Festival Hall, the actor, who hosted the ceremony alongside Alison Hammond, told the crowd: “Nobody on my watch gets slapped tonight – except on the back.”The joke refers to the moment Will Smith slapped presenter Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, during last year’s Oscars.Following a number of apologies after the incident, Smith resigned from the Academy and was later banned from attending all Academy events for 10 years.In July last year, Smith posted an apology video to address questions surrounding the incident. “I’ve reached out to Chris [Rock] and the message that came back is he’s not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out.”All Quiet On The Western Front led the winners at the BAFTAs, picking up seven awards including Best Film and Film Not In The English Language.The Banshees Of Inisherin, which was nominated for 10 awards, went onto win four trophies including Supporting Actress for Kerry Condon and Supporting Actor for Barry Keoghan.Other winners include Austin Butler, who won Leading Actor for Elvis, and Cate Blanchett who won Leading Actress for TÁR.
Austin Butler paid tribute to Lisa Marie Presley after winning best actor at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards for "Elvis." Following his big win at the Royal Festival Hall in London, Butler admitted he felt "honored" to be welcomed into the Presley family and was also grieving Lisa's death. Lisa Marie died in Los Angeles on Jan. 12 at the age of 54.
