Sara Anne Morley decided to visit her doctor in 2014 when she began suffering excruciating abdominal pains. The 58-year-old also had frequent bowel movements.
Having lost her older brother to bowel cancer, Sara Anne was fast-tracked to a specialist at her local hospital and a colonoscopy was carried out.

Sadly, the test confirmed her worst nightmares – Sara Anne had stage-four bowel cancer. The gran was placed onto radiotherapy and chemotherapy courses and had part of her bowel removed. She also had a stoma fitted.
However, she only received chemotherapy for five days before falling extremely unwell, being unable to continue with the treatment.
As a result of not being able to finish her chemotherapy course, medics decided to keep a close eye on her with regular blood tests.
But two years later, in 2016, Sara Anne learned the cancer had returned – this time spreading to her liver.
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK, with almost 43,000 people being diagnosed with the disease every year. Survival rates at stage one are above 90 per cent but plummet to under 10 per cent at stage four, according to charity Bowel Cancer UK.
The gran tried every chemotherapy treatment available to her but was unable to finish any of them, being hospitalised twice due to her horrific side effects.
With no treatments available to her, Sara Anne was referred to The Christie hospital in April 2017.
Following genetic testing, it was revealed she had high microsatellite instability, or MSI-H, colon cancer, which is seen in around 5 per cent of patients. It means the cancer cells have a high number of mutations.
