Gabriel Martinelli has given Arsenal a major injury scare after his side beat Brentford on Saturday. Following a second-half substitution against Sheffield United on Monday, Martinelli was spotted wearing a protective boot and using crutches at the Emirates Stadium.
Leandro Trossard replaced him in the starting line-up, while Kai Havertz clinched victory for Arsenal against Brentford late on to send Arsenal top. City can move to the summit themselves with a win over Liverpool on Sunday.
For Arsenal this is an enormous blow in the race for the title and it comes ahead of two key fixtures. Mikel Arteta's side take on Porto in the Champions League aiming to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit on Tuesday. After the international break they then travel to the Etihad Stadium for a title showdown.

Having beaten Brentford, football.london reporters spotted Martinelli heading to the dressing room after walking through the 'mixed zone' in north London with his protective and supportive gear. There are now serious doubts about whether he will be able to play in midweek.
Before the game, Arsenal tweeted: "Gabriel Martinelli misses out on today's squad due to the foot issue sustained at Sheffield United." Arteta had expressed hope that the forward would be available for the game, though.
"We had Martinelli and Bukayo [Saka] with little issues," he explained. "We're pretty positive that hopefully they can be part of that. But we'll have to see how they feel."
