A man crashed his car into the gates of Buckingham Palace, causing a 'loud bang' and prompting armed police to rush to the scene.
Dramatic footage shows the driver on his knees surrounded by armed police who are shouting: "Keep your hands on your head! " The officers swooped in after the vehicle rammed into the main entrance gates of the Royal residence in Westminster, central London.
The Metropolitan Police stated that a man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. An eyewitness, who wanted to stay anonymous, said he saw the whole event at around 2.30am on Saturday after hearing "a loud bang", reports the Mirror.

He shared: "I heard a loud bang, and I looked over and the car had crashed into Buckingham Palace. Police were on the scene pretty quickly and they got the man out and arrested him."
The Met confirmed there were no reports of any injuries. A spokesperson for the force mentioned: "At approximately 02:33hrs on Saturday, 09 March a car collided with the gates of Buckingham Palace."
