Alison Hammond took to social media to urge people to 'be kind' following a cruel online troll. Someone hit out at the Bake Off host calling her a 'nasty piece of work'.
Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter supported the This Morning presenter as she faced the online backlash telling her to 'send them' her way. Alison, 49, confronted the social media user on Monday night after stumbling across the horrible comment.
The tweet read: "I imagine @AlisonHammond is a real nasty piece of work now. Started to believe her own hype." In response, Alison hit back writing: "Why is that I’ll be having a lovely day and then someone who doesn’t know from Adam writes such nasty message. Don’t @ me. Keep your nasty comment to yourself. Be kind, always."
Alison also responded to another troll, as writes the Mirror, who said: "Alison has no talent but gets loads of work because she ticks the right boxes." Hitting back, the TV star wrote: "The only box I’m ticking today is block."
People soon rushed to back the much-loved host including Emmerdale star Lucy. In a reply to Alison's tweet calling out the cruel troll, the actress who plays Chas Dingle on the ITV soap quipped: "Send them my way babe".
Another person also wrote: "I'm so sorry Alison. Keep being the amazing and kind person you are. You're lovely as you are." ITV newsreader Alex Lovell also added: "Never acceptable and it's utterly legitimate to feel hurt and winded."
"Don't take any notice of these idiots slating you on social media Alison. If they had an ounce of the talent that you do they wouldn't be at home writing such lies online. They need to take a hard long look at themselves," another Twitter user fumed.
