Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), an American physics student attending graduate school in England and Germany in the 1920s, with bright blue marble eyes and a curly wedge of hair that stands up like Charlie Chaplin’s, keeps having visions of particles and waves. We see the images that are disrupting his mind, the particles pulsating, the waves aglow in vibratory bands of light. Oppenheimer can see the brave new world of quantum mechanics, and the visual razzmatazz is exactly the sort of thing you’d expect from a biopic written and directed by Christopher Nolan: a molecular light show as a reflection of the hero’s inner spirit. But even when “Oppenheimer” settles down into a more realistic, less phantasmagorical groove (which it does fairly quickly), it remains every inch a Nolan film. You feel that in the heady, dense, dizzying way it slices and dices chronology, psychodrama, scientific inquiry, political backstabbing, and history written with lightning — no mere metaphor in this case, since the movie, which tells the story of the man who created the atomic bomb, feels almost like it’s about the invention of lightning.

Since the show’s premiere in 2018, the first three seasons of “Succession” have received 13 Emmys out of 48 nominations. Strong won the lead actor Emmy in 2020 and was also nominated in 2020, beating his co-star Cox both years. This year marks Culkin’s first lead actor nomination, and he was up for supporting actor in 2020 and 2022. Last year, “Succession” made Emmy history for the most acting nods ever, with 14 acting nominations out of 25 total nods. Culkin, Nicholas Braun and winner Matthew Macfadyen were all up for supporting actor in a drama in 2022, while J. Smith-Cameron and Sarah Snook were both nominated for supporting actress.

New York-based actor David Kaverman is four months into his contract as a swing performer on the second national tour of the hit Broadway musical WICKED. Set over the course of 24 hours in a working class neighborhood of Madrid, the film follows several marginalized characters whose fates are intertwined as they struggle financially and face eviction. Cruz said she set up her production company, Moonlyon, with Laura Espeso (“The Good Boss”) and Spanish powerhouse Mediapro Studio in 2022 to pursue “meaningful” projects as a producer and director.
