Julia MacCary editor Warner Bros. has dropped the first official trailer for the highly anticipated sci-fi epic sequel “Dune: Part 2.” In 2021’s “Dune,” Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) ventured to Arrakis, the universe’s most dangerous and sandiest planet, to ensure his family and people’s future as evil forces exploded in conflict. The Denis Villeneuve drama, based on Frank Herbert’s novel, was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won six.  In the sequel, Atreides teams up with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen to exact revenge on those who destroyed his family, and he must juggle his love life with the fate of the universe at stake. The trailer shows Paul riding the back of a massive sand worm on the deserts of Arrakis while Chani and the Fremen cheer him on.

CinemaCon. “The Flash,” the DC Comics superhero adventure starring Ezra Miller, played to a mostly enthusiastic audience at the annual convention of movie theater owners in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening. In the lead-up to the debut, executives at Warner Bros. and DC touted “The Flash” as “one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.” It may not have cleared those stratospheric expectations (there was a little film called “The Dark Knight,” after all), but the finished product elicited plenty of cheers, laughs and maybe a few tears in the room at Caesars Palace. That said, CinemaCon is hardly the Cannes Film Festival. The audience at the Colosseum, filled with movie theater owners from across the globe, is one with a vested interest in the success of the blockbuster-hopeful. Zendaya fans got the surprise of a lifetime when the  star joined Labrinth during his set at Coachella Saturday.The 26-year-old singer-actress performed the final two songs of his set — «I'm Tired» and «All for Us,» the first of which was featured in the HBO series. The epic surprise marked Zendaya's first live performance in seven years.Zendaya was festival-chic for the appearance, wearing her hair in a long, wavy style, while sporting a pink dress that featured a corset bodice and a white tank top underneath. She paired the look with thigh-high black boots, silver hoop earrings and a ring.The Emmy-winner took to her Instagram Stories following the performance to express her gratitude to Labrinth for letting her join him on stage for what she called a «magical night.»«Thank you to my brother @labrinth for inviting me and giving me the most beautiful safe space to be on a stage again,» Zendaya wrote.

Surprise! During Labrinth’s set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, he enlisted triple-threat performer Zendaya for a special duet.

Last year, the track received an Emmy nomination in the outstanding original music and lyrics category, along with Zendaya and Dominic Fike’s “Elliot’s Song,” also from “Euphoria.” (Fike is on Coachella’s lineup for Sunday.) . She co-wrote both of the nominated songs.

If one were paying close attention to the recent career of actor Jake Gyllenhaal one might think he was on a mad quest to a) become a buff action star thriller and b) elevate the careers of mid/middling directors.
