A woman accused of killing her boyfriend by knifing him through the heart had "stabbed him in the head" only weeks earlier, a jury has been told. Natalie Bennett is on trial at Liverpool Crown Court charged with murdering her partner Kasey Anderson.
The 24-year-old died in March this year - a week before his birthday - after being slashed several times with a blade and suffering two stab wounds. Despite being gravely injured, Mr Anderson managed to call 999 as he lay in the street outside his 47-year-old girlfriend’s home in Croxteth, Merseyside.
He told call handlers "he was dying" but Bennett claimed he had arrived at her in that condition, the Liverpool Echo reports. Giving evidence yesterday, My Anderson’s dad Graham told the jury his son had been in a relationship with Bennett since he was aged around "19 or 20".
Prosecutor Richard Pratt KC asked him if he "began to notice changes" in Kasey during that time. The dad bowed his head and paused, putting his hand to his mouth before saying: "He stopped being a happy go lucky lad. His lifestyle changed. It wasn't for the better, it was for the worse. He didn't drink at all, he didn't like it. He started drinking heavily."
Mr Anderson - who said he had known Bennett "for about 20 years", and that she had "always been on the estate" - said his son was with her "all the time, drinking or something else, prescription drugs". He described them as "toxic", adding: "They'd be alright before they'd start drinking.
"As the day went on with the drink, they would get vicious and be arguing with each other. I never seen Kasey lift his hand to her. She was always physical with him, punching him. Most weeks I'd see Kasey with a black eye, a fat lip, scratches all over him. Every time I'd
