A boy told a police officer that he ate a heart and drank blood, a witchcraft and child sex abuse trial heard today.
The child made the claims to detective constable Brian Hamilton when quizzed by police in December 2021. The boy stated that he and fellow "wizards" passed around and consumed the heart and a wine glass of blood while in a circle.
He earlier told the officer that he was held under a bath of blood and killed a budgie as part of an initiation to become a wizard. The boy claimed he then received a wand which he and the other wizards later used to cast a "spell" on a young girl.
He added that the group also contacted horned demons and spirits using a Ouija board. The evidence was today heard at the High Court in Glasgow.
Seven men and four women are on trial facing an indictment listing a total of 32 charges alleged to have occurred in the city between January 2010 and October 2020. The accusations involve four children with allegations including rape, other sex offences, witchcraft and attempted murder.
Jurors watched footage of the recorded interview which was one of 15 the boy did with police. He stated that he was aged six or seven when he was put into a bath of blood.
The boy said: "I was just held under the bath, I just remember seeing it and it was all blood.
DC Hamilton asked the boy to describe being under the blood.
He replied: "I remember going in but I don't remember what happened. I just remember being drowned, I feel like I nearly drowned when this was happening."
He stated that the blood was dark red and his whole body was in the bath.
The boy said: "That's why they put me in the bath of blood and to kill the budgie - it was like an initiation. One of them said one day everyone will be doing witchcraft.
