In the last few months, we have been asking residents where the best area, park, cafes and bars are in Greater Manchester. Recently we went down to the magical place of Wigan to ask people for their recommendations.
A video series that has become popular on our social media channels. we spoke to 20-year-old Guy Boby who named checked Mesnes Park as one of his favourite areas in Wigan, Wetherspoons pub The Moon Under the Water and another Wetherspoons establishment, The Brocket Arms as his favourite places to go for a bite and The Boulevard as his favourite pub.

However, Guy's recommendations sparked quite a healthy debate in our comment sections on Facebook with many taking Umbrage for his affinity for Wetherspoons. Instead, the followers decided to give what they felt were more appropriate places to experience the best of what Wigan had to offer.
Best pubs
Real Crafty, Upper Dicconson St, Wigan WN1 2AD
Ian Hardman said: "Places to go for a walk, Mesnes Park yes. But some of the canal walks, like up near Scotsman's Flash are also very good. Places to go and eat is an interesting one. You're better going somewhere like Nandos on Robin Park. Pubs? Real Crafty! Bars? Boulevard! Plenty more places than just a 'Spoons!"
Other suggestions included:
John Bull, Coopers Row, Wigan, WN1 1PQ
Wigan Central, Central Arch 1 & 2, Queen St, WN3 4DY
