Steve Dymond tragically died on 9 May 2019 from a suspected overdose just days after appearing on ITV’s The Jeremy Kyle Show, leading to the programme being taken off air indefinitely. The tragic guest’s death will be discussed in upcoming Channel 4 documentary Jeremy Kyle Show: Death on Daytime, in which his devastating final text messages are seen. While the episode in which Steve appeared never aired, his death led to a probe into alleged lack of care on the ITV show. Who was Steve Dymond? Steve was a 63 year old who was tragically found dead seven days after appearing as a guest on The Jeremy Kyle Show. The construction worker had appeared on the show after his fiancee, Jane Callaghan, accused him of cheating on her.
He’s said to have signed up for the show 300 times in a bid to prove that he wasn’t unfaithful. Steve failed the show’s lie detector test and is said to have been “booed at jeered at” by the audience. Steve’s family also claimed host Jeremy Kyle “got in his face” and he was “still heckled at the point of collapsing”.
Hampshire coroner Jason Pegg, who viewed the recording of Steve's appearance on the show, stated that Jeremy Kyle branded Steve a “serial liar” and said “anyone got a shovel?” during his appearance on the show. Steve was found dead after filming the episode of the show from a suspected morphine overdose and a heart problem, an inquest heard. He is said to have been worried about the repercussions of the show.
