'My wife killed herself after going on Jeremy Kyle - 14 years before Steve Dymond'

Steve Dymond died in 2019 from a suspected overdose just days after appearing on ITV’s The Jeremy Kyle Show, leading to the programme being taken off air indefinitely.The tragic guest’s death was discussed in Channel 4 documentary Jeremy Kyle Show: Death on Daytime, in which Steve's devastating final text messages were seen. While the episode in which he appeared never aired, his death led to a probe into alleged lack of care on the ITV show. But the husband of a woman who took her life after taking part in the show says Dymond's death was not the first.
Erica Pawson filmed an episode of The Jeremy Kyle Show in 2005 with her husband Paul - though the episode never aired, Mirror Online reports. She took her life age 36 just days after filming, leaving behind Paul and her 12-year-old daughter Laura. Paul says: "I remember when I heard about Steve Dymond, I was watching Good Morning Britain.
"He'd died and they'd stopped the programme. I was like, 'What the hell?' They didn't stop the programme for my wife when she killed herself after being on The Jeremy Kyle Show. "First year it started in October 2005.
When my wife died they did nothing." A new Channel 4 documentary examines behind-the-scenes footage and personal accounts of those affected by appearances on the programme. Among them are Erica's husband, neighbours and daughter, who describe her as being "vulnerable". Paul says: "They [the people who work on the show] split you up straight away and they pump you up for ages - winding you up for hours.
