In the waning days of 2023, the Alchemist hopped on Instagram to tell the story of Hall & Nash 2, a collaborative project the producer recorded in 2016 with the then-ascendent Griselda rappers Conway the Machine and Westside Gunn. The trio came together to record the sequel soon after the original's release.
The process, Alchemist writes, was going smoothly. "From the first day in the lab," Alchemist says, "I knew I needed these guys on my beats more than they needed my beats." However, the album was shelved after Conway and Westside signed to Shady Records, and some of the songs were repurposed for other projects.
Now, the full original version of Hall & Nash 2 is available to stream (a physical version, announced last week, has already sold out). And if the OG release is not enough, Alchemist says that he's reunited with the two rappers in 2024 for "an official HALL & NASH 2." The legacy continues.
