BBC Radio 2 has this year, for the first time, joined the group of radio stations that have decided to play an edited version of ‘Fairytale Of New York’, the popular festive classic from The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl.There has been increasing controversy around the inclusion of the word ‘faggot’ in the lyrics of the song in recent years.On one side, there are people who think that a homophobic slur such as that shouldn’t really be heard on daytime radio in this day and age – regardless of whether or not it’s delivered as the words of an unsympathetic character within the context of the song.On the other side, there are those who think it’s been in the song for years now and people are just being overly sensitive – given that it’s delivered as the words of an unsympathetic character within the context of the song.Anyway, we have this conversation every year, even though everyone involved seems to have agreed that the song should be edited and the original should not be played on the radio anymore. Last year people got upset because Warner Music created a new radio edit, which replaced the line “you cheap lousy faggot” with “you’re cheap and you’re haggard”.The new line was lifted from a live performance by Kirsty MacColl, who herself had begun censoring the song before her death in 2000.

A shocking loss. Orange Is the New Black alum Brad William Henke has died. He was 56.

Brad William Henke, a former NFL player who segued to acting and appeared in TV series including Orange Is the New Black, Justified and Lost and such films as Pacific Rim and World Trade Center, has died. He was 56. His family said Henke died in his sleep November 28, but no cause was given.

Through five days, the Ryan Coogler-directed Disney and Marvel Studios sequel has amassed $204.8M with Tuesday earning $12.4M, the third best Tuesday of November after Frozen 2 ($20.8M, Nov. 26, 2019) and Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire ($15.96M, Nov. 26, 2013).

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” opens in theaters today in the US to close out Phase 4 for the MCU. But don’t expect the film’s worldwide box office numbers to reach those of Ryan Coogler‘s 2018 film.

There were a lot of questions going into the release of Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” How would the sequel deal with the sudden passing of Chadwick Boseman, the franchise’s leader? Who is going to suit up as the new Black Panther? And do we really need a villain with pointy ears and winged ankles? Thankfully, Ryan Cooger and his fantastic cast have once again delivered a “Black Panther” film that answers all those questions a whole lot more.

As expected, Disney and Marvel Studios Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is on fire with a $28M Thursday which easily beats the preview night of the first Black Panther in 2018 which did $25.2M. Wakanda Forever ranks as the third best Thursday preview of the year behind Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ($36M) and Thor: Love and Thunder‘s ($29M). Overall, Black Panther 2‘s previews rank as the 15th top preview performance in industry history and gives the Marvel Cinematic Universe six of the top 15 starts ever. The 3-day projection for Wakanda Forever is between $175M-$200M at 4,936 theaters.

While it’s unclear whether or not Ryan Coogler is going to return to direct another “Black Panther” film after the release of ‘Wakanda Forever,’ it has long been known the filmmaker is working alongside Marvel Studios to develop spinoffs for Disney+. Originally, it was revealed that the spinoff would be focused on the Dora Milaje, led by Danai Gurira’s Okoye.
