Leeds bakery Get Baked, famous for its giant towering Bruce cake, pies and brownies, has confirmed it is to open its first shop in Manchester. The announcement sent devotees of the cakery into overdrive.
People travel from across the UK to visit the original Get Baked in Headingley, where the viral Bruce cake is made. The towering 12 chocolate layered cake has set social media alight and is in hot demand both at the shop and for onine orders that sell out within minutes of going on sale.
Now, bakery owner Rich Myers has confirmed that Manchester will soon get its very own Get Baked shop, complete with slices of the Bruce cakes. He tells the MEN it will open in time for the summer.

He posted a trademark cheeky message on the Get Baked social media feed on Sunday which sent followers into a frenzy. It said: "Hi Manchester. Guess who's opening inside you? That's right."
Fans of the brand, including a number of other food and drink operators in Manchester, were quick to send messages of support for the move. Manchester cookie masters Gooey wrote: "Can't wait" while Onda Pasta Bar said: "Exceptional".
Cake fans were besides themselves, including Lauren Mulcahy who summed up the mood on Instagram saying: "As a manc that’s been frothing at every pic ever uploaded I'M GASSED."
While @yckwdd added: "Oh dear Lord. We're fat enough already, dammit."
Get Baked's founder Rich Myers told the MEN that the location of the first Manchester shop is a secret for now - but has confirmed it WILL be in a city centre location. He also says it will be a takeaway site rather than eat-in.
