Variety’s Awards Circuit Roundtable Reveals Daring and Unpredictable Final Emmy Picks

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large “The Rescue” filmmakers and Oscar winners Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin are among the presenters set to appear at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ 43rd Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards.  The news ceremony will take place on Wednesday, September 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET and the documentary ceremony takes place Thursday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m. ET, both at the Palladium Times Square in New York City. Presenters set to appear at the news ceremony include Linsey Davis (ABC News), Margaret Brennan (CBS News), Omar Jimenez (CNN), Morgan Radford (NBC News), Julio Vaqueiro (Noticias Telemundo), Teresa Rodrigues (Univision) and Paola Ramos (Vice News).

Netflix's favorite foul-mouthed duo return in the first teaser for the final season of the dark comedy , which the streamer released during the Tudum fan event on Saturday. Christina Applegate, Linda Cardellini and James Marsden star in the twisty half-hour series from creator Liz Feldman, with the latter introducing the teaser for fans to enjoy.The video begins by rehashing the events of the previous two seasons, taking fans back to the beginning when Jen (Applegate) met Judy (Cardellini) after her husband was killed in a hit and run.

Taylor Swift has begun revealing the tracklist for forthcoming album ‘Midnights’, through a new TikTok series, starting with its 13th and final song.The series, titled ‘Midnights Mayhem With Me’ and announced earlier today (September 21), will have Swift randomly picking which song titles to disclose in the lead-up to the album’s release next month.“I know that I have a habit of dropping cryptic clues and Easter eggs when giving you information about my music, and I’m not here to deny that. But I am here to defy that,” Swift says to the camera before introducing the new series.“I’m going to be using this technologically advanced device to help me allow fate to decide exactly what track titles I’m going to be announcing, and in what order,” she continues, pointing to a bingo cage with 13 balls.

Television Academy’s Emmys are meaningless, a new poll revealed.The survey of 1,000 people, which was conducted by OnePoll, unveiled that only 34% of respondents actually plan on watching this year’s 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, which air on Sept. 12 on NBC.The poll is a stark contrast from the 61% of people who said they watched the awards show at least “sometimes” in past years.It’s also a shock since 53% of those surveyed said they watch the most TV — at 15 hours or more weekly.Obviously, those who never really watch TV said they have no interest in watching the Emmys, with 93% of the anti-TV group expressing the sentiment.Last year, CBS scored a larger audience for the 2021 Emmy Awards, with the show increasing eyeballs by 16% — earning 7.4 million viewers.

The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards are set to kick off Monday beginning at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET live on NBC and on the Peacock streaming service for the first time. The three-hour ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, and SNL veteran Kenan Thompson will host.
