NATAS Announces 43rd Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards Presenters

Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large ABC and Vice tied with the most wins, at 8 each, on night one as the news portion of the 43rd Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards were handed out at the Palladium Times Square in New York City. Judy Woodruff, anchor and managing editor of “PBS NewsHour” was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.  The award was presented by Robert MacNeil, co-creator and former co-anchor of the NewsHour. “Tonight’s Emmy winners exemplify broadcast journalism at its best, reporting that values fact over fiction, accountability over advocacy, and that champions the advance of truth in the interest of the communities we all serve”, said Terry O’Reilly, Chairman, NATAS. “America has never needed its journalists more than today. We congratulate tonight’s honorees and thank them for the indispensable service they provide to our nation.”

ABC and Vice led the news portion of the 43rd annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards, which were handed out tonight at the Palladium Times Square in Manhattan. Both scored eight statuettes, followed by CNN and The New York Times with five each and CBS and NBC with three apiece. See the full list of winners here.

During the 74th ceremony, Gomez presented the award for Outstanding Variety Talk Series (See the complete list of winners at the 2022 Emmys here), but before announcing the winner, she poked fun at Steve Martin.

Zendaya set the tone for last night's Emmy Awards. Not only did she make history as the youngest-ever recipient of not one but two awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, but her ball gown, a swooshing and strapless number from Valentino, lent towards Old Hollywood. According to her stylist and image architect, Law Roach, the dress was based on an archival gown from the late 1980s - yet another example of something old taking today's red carpet by storm.

The best of the 2021-2022 TV season has been revealed, first during the 74th Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which were handed on Sept. 3 and 4, before being followed by the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards hosted by Kenan Thompson on Sept. 12.

Issa Rae, who is for the Emmy for in a comedy series for her performance in the last season of her HBO comedy Insecure served in a black and white gown with a dramatic keyhole cutout.The Insecure creator also debuted a sharp, copper-toned bob that hit just above the shoulders.
