The series is based on the true story of the murder of Reena Virk (played by Vritika Gupta), a 14 year old girl who was killed by a group of fellow teenagers – her supposed friends – in 1997 British Columbia. Keough plays Rebecca Godfrey (who wrote the book that the show is based on), Gladstone plays local cop Cam Bentland, and Panjabi plays Suman Virk, Reena’s mother.

Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) and Bowen Yang (SNL) have been tapped to star in a reimagining of Ang Lee’s classic romance The Wedding Banquet from filmmaker Andrew Ahn (Fire Island), Deadline can confirm.

Today, Bleecker Street announced they had secured the rights to a new version of Ang Lee’s “The Wedding Banquet,” a 1993 worldwide art-house hit and Foreign Language Oscar nominee in 1994.

The first two episodes, released on April 17, show the timeline of events leading up to Virk’s death and the investigation that took place. The show, created by Quinn Shephard, tells the story of the events that unfolded through the lens of Godfrey (Riley Keough), a journalist who grew up in Victoria and was working on a novel about teenage girls in her hometown when she found out about the murder, and Cam Bentland (Lily Gladstone), a local police officer who investigated and solved the case.

As a law enforcement officer who takes it upon herself to investigate the death of 14-year-old Reena Virk, it's a mentally draining role that requires a certain kind of headspace—one that I imagine any psychologist would urge their client not to wade in for extended periods of time.For better or worse then, Gladstone got a crash course in compartmentalizing her Under the Bridge filming experience when she for the world premiere of Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon at the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival last May.

Jack Dunn Tribeca Festival has revealed its feature film lineup for its 2024 festival, which includes films from actors Lily Gladstone and Michael Cera and documentaries featuring Prince, Carlos Santana and Dolly Parton. The opening night film is documentary “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge,” directed by Tribeca alumni Trish Dalton and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
