UK weather: Met Office forecasters' verdict on exactly when more snow could fall

Met Office forecasters predict that some snow could fall in the UK as soon as this week.
After a fairly mild few days, temperatures could start to drop again as we head towards this coming weekend. According to the Met Office's UK long range weather forecast, some of the white stuff could fall between Friday, February 23 and Sunday, March 3.
Forecasters predict that any snow would be 'restricted to the hills' and 'mainly in the north'. Though, some 'short-lived colder interludes' are possible during this period which 'may allow to snow to fall to lower levels at times'.

In the full, the Met Office long-range forecast from this Friday to the following Sunday states; "Unsettled on Friday and over the weekend with showery conditions across the country and windy at times. Showers likely to be heaviest and most frequent into western areas.
"Any snow will be restricted to hills, mainly in the north. Temperatures will be around average for the time of year, possibly rather cold in the north with overnight frost most likely here.
"A generally unsettled pattern is most likely through to early March bringing spells of rain across all areas at times, wettest in the west and northwest, and occasionally windy too. Temperatures generally around average though some short-lived colder interludes are possible.
"These more likely in the north which may allow snow to fall to lower levels at times."
This week in Greater Manchester, fairly mild temperatures are forecast up until Wednesday, with mainly cloudy and rainy conditions predicted. Highs of around 13C are expected on Wednesday.
