Scotland’s top modern university, Glasgow Caledonian University, is the largest provider of healthcare professionals in the country and is leading the way in widening access for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Glasgow Caledonian has just been crowned the top-performing modern university in Scotland in the prestigious Complete University Guide 2024 and Scottish Funding Council figures highlighted that 23% of the University’s Scottish full-time, first degree entrants were drawn from the country's 20% most-disadvantaged backgrounds.
This year, Glasgow Caledonian, which has more than 1,600 staff and more than 22,000 students from 120 countries, had the highest increase in rankings of any Scottish university, according to the Guardian and Times/Sunday Times university guides.
The Times Good University Guide 2023 also cited Glasgow Caledonian as 1st in the UK for Physiotherapy, Radiography, and Food Science programmes, with many other programmes in the top ten. The university is also Scotland’s leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships.
The School of Health and Life Sciences (SHLS) attracts students from all walks of life by providing dedicated learning support and opportunities to help them gain successful and rewarding professional careers in health and social care.
SHLS offers degree programmes in eight of the Allied Health Professions (AHPs) disciplines including diagnostic radiography, dietetics, occupational therapy, orthoptics, paramedicine, physiotherapy, podiatry and radiotherapy and oncology.
The school’s expert staff, as well as state-of-the-art simulation and virtual reality labs, help prepare students for placements and work when they leave university.
