The best of Broadway was honored at the 2023 Tony Awards!
The new musical Kimberly Akimbo and the play Leopoldstadt were the big winners of the night on Sunday night (June 11) at the United Palace Theatre in New York City’s Washington Heights.
There were so many memorable moments at the show, including two non-binary actors winning in both musical categories for actors, and when director Michael Arden was silenced by CBS during his acceptance speech.

This year’s telecast will go unscripted due to the ongoing writers’ strike, as reported by Variety on May 18. Those up for the prestigious awards include “Some Like It Hot,” with a total of 13 nominations, as well as “& Juliet,” “Shucked” and “New York, New York,” which received a total of nine nominations each.
