Premier League pundit Peter Schmeichel singled out a trio of Manchester United players for particular praise after their performances against Everton.
The former United goalkeeper was keen to stress that there were plenty of positives to take from the 2-0 win at Old Trafford despite the sight of Marcus Rashford limping off with what appears to be a groin injury. A goal in each half from Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial, the latter Rashford assisted before being substituted, was enough to secure all three points.
United also kept a second-straight clean sheet despite Erik ten Hag changing three of the back four from Wednesday night. Schmeichel was impressed by the incoming Aaron Wan-Bissaka and club captain Harry Maguire plus Jadon Sancho, who assisted the opening goal.

“It was good, three points, clean sheet, lots of positives,“ he told Premier League Productions, “Maguire and Wan-Bissaka came in and played really well.“
“The negative things are the injury to Rashford and also; a lot of missed chances. I’m looking ahead; and thinking: ‘Should we need 29 chances to score two goals?’ One of them came from a big mistake from Everton, too, so that’s a bit of a worry.“
Schmeichel continued: “On the goal, Rashford is trying to get through, he wants to do it himself, but he has seven players around him; he’s got no chance, but then Sancho does very, very well to find McTominay with a good pass that opens up the defence.“
