Former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel is adamant that Manchester United are moving in the right direction under manager Erik ten Hag.

Despite Thursday night's shambolic Europa League exit at the hands of Sevilla, United are on an upward trajectory ahead of the conclusion of this season and are expected to strengthen their squad this summer. Though they are in need of additional quality, Schmeichel is impressed with the job Ten Hag has overseen so far, admitting that he appears to understand the expectations that come with managing the club.
"I think it's been really, really good," Schmeichel told BBC Sport. "This season, as a fan, you kind of feel it's going in the right direction, and when you have to analyse what is going on it really is going in the right direction.
