Presenter Alison Hammond revealed the exciting news that This Morning is going to be teaming up with none other than ITV’s iconic soap Coronation Street for a jam-packed Coronation special that is fit for a King.The announcement was made this morning when Alison, 48, was live on the cobbles of ITV1’s longest-running soap. The two shows will join forces and get the Coronation weekend celebrations started with a special edition of This Morning that will broadcast live from the Corrie cobbles for an exciting 150-minute special ahead of King Charles' Coronation.
Alison was joined on Coronation Street's cobbles by Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Bradley, and Jodie Prenger, who plays Glenda Shuttleworth in the soap. The excitement was shared between them as they stood outside the Rovers to deliver the news that the multi-awarding winning shows will unite on Friday 5th May.
Alison said: "How amazing is that?! We are going to be gatecrashing Coronation Street! And when I say we, I'm talking about everyone: the crew, we've got presenters, we've got loads of cordially invited guests...the sofa's coming!" Alison, along with This Morning co-host Dermot O’Leary, will take the show’s famous blue sofa from its usual spot in London all the way to ‘Weatherfield’ in Greater Manchester for the momentous occasion. Alison shared her excitement for the “epic” occasion.
She told viewers: "I literally cannot wait to be back visiting the cobbles again. I always have such a great time with the Coronation Street team and to be there with our This Morning team this time for such a special occasion will be epic, it's going to be so much fun!" Presenter Dermot said that the duo will be “bringing the party to Manchester”.
