Police found a baby laid across the front seat of a car after they stopped the driver outside a school in Whitefield.
Officers at Greater Manchester Police's Roads Policing Unit stopped the car at around 3pm yesterday (April 23) as they carried out routine checks. The baby was found unrestrained and laid across the front seat of the car, which had previously been travelling along the road.
Officers then also found other children on the backseat who didn't have their seatbelts on, police said. There was also a baby seat in the back of the car - which wasn't being used.

A check was made on the baby and the driver was reported for the 'carrying passengers in an unsafe manner'. Police said 'urgent care referrals' were also made to relevant schools and social services.
A picture, caught on a police bodycam, was released of the baby and driver by the force. Officers described the incident as 'truly shocking'.
A post on X by GMP Traffic described how the child was 'not a doll but a real baby'. The post said: "That's not a doll lay on the front seat. That's a real baby.
"Subsequently need your help X followers - Your help to publicise far & wide that whilst our mission is to work with drivers to promote safer roads, NO discretion will be shown to those who endanger vulnerable passengers."
