An expert has revealed how a £1.30 household item can be the key to leaving your front door sparkling clean just in time for spring.
Keeping your front door clean can be difficult in the adverse weather we experience in the UK - but there is a simple trick that will get rid of all that built-up dirt and grime.
All you need is a spare 10 minutes and a mixture of white vinegar and water in order to make your front door look like new once again.
Myles Robinson from Value Doors said: "A grubby front door can really give the wrong impression on a home, so it’s important to give it a good clean once in a while. And you don’t have to use expensive products to give it a once over and return it to looking its best.
"White vinegar mixed with water can do a great job in removing dirt and giving both uPVC and wooden doors a natural shine."
The expert added: "Mix one part vinegar with one part water and spray onto the surface before lightly scrubbing with a cloth or sponge. With wooden doors, it’s best to wipe in the direction of the grain, then dry off with a paper towel or cloth and the job is done."
White vinegar is a versatile cleaning solution for the home and is available for just £1.30 from Morrisons and Tesco, and slightly pricier at £1.85 at Sainsbury's and £2 from Amazon.
The item can be mixed on a 1:1 ratio and be poured into a spray bottle to cover surfaces evenly - it is important to rinse the solution thoroughly as white vinegar can leave a lingering smell.
Myles suggested lightly dusting down your front door with a dry cloth to remove the bulk of the dirt before cleaning with the vinegar solution.
