Much-loved ITV quiz show The Chase has had viewers' tongues wagging after fans picked up on what they think was a contestant 'hustling' a chaser out of £20,000. A recent episode of the show saw four brand new question-loving contestants bag a huge cash prize of £20,000.The majority of that prize pot was won by clever competitor Simon, who went after the higher offer when going head to head with quiz king Mark Labbett in the Final Chase. The latest instalment of the 5pm quiz saw Simon - along with his teammates Eraj, Amanda and Drina - competing against chaser Mark, 56. Simon was first up, but, after a tricky quick-fire Cash Builder round, sadly only managed to answer one question correctly.
Stepping up to the podium with just £1,000 in the bank, Mark, aka The Best, smuggly offered Simon a jaw-dropping top offer of £20,000 if he agreed to take him on. Presenter Bradley, 61, was visibly shocked by his contestant's brazen decision, but reassured him nonetheless, saying: "A grand. That's no reflection on your ability. You're better than that." Numerous gobsmacked fans of the show took to Twitter to express their disbelief at Simon's bravery, with some even placing bets on how quickly he would be sent home given his track record.
One tweeted: "Other than the fact he's only got one grand," whilst another chimed in: "He got one [question] right. How is he a better player than that?" "No, he's not a much better player than that he's awful," a third added.
