A trapped resident was forced to leap from a window after a horror blaze broke out in a Glasgow flat.
Emergency services raced to Leslie Street in Pollokshields after the alarm was raised in the early hours of Friday morning. Ambulance crews attended and two men were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Pictures taken from the scene showed smoke billowing out of a ground-floor flat while fire crews battled the blaze. One terrified resident, who lives in the building, told Glasgow Live how she was trapped in her home during the incident.
A picture taken by the woman showed smoke flooding into her property with her stuck inside. Meanwhile a neighbour, she said, leapt from the third floor of the property and had to be taken to hospital.
The woman, who has not been named, said: "At 3.30am we were woken up by a neighbour who told us there was a fire and to leave. We got dressed in five minutes by which time the smoke had filled the close and we couldn’t leave.
"We put towels down at the hall door and opened windows and closed doors and sat outside and hoped it was all alright."
The fire started on the ground-floor and it's understood the property has been completely gutted by the blaze. As the fire spread it made the stairwell off limits for the residents above and they were forced to sit it out while firefighters tackled the flames.
The neighbour added: "I was stuck in my flat watching the smoke enter under the hallway door and it was terrifying. My neighbour's son was trapped inside and jumped from the third storey window and was taken to hospital."
The condition of the two injured men is currently unknown.
