Cillian Murphy says he hasn’t seen many of his own films

Cillian Murphy has revealed that he hasn’t watched many of his own films.Speaking to GQ in a recent interview, the Oppenheimer star shared: “Many of my films I haven’t seen,” adding that actor Johnny Depp often said the same.“It’s actually true. Generally the ones I haven’t seen are the ones I hear are not good.”One example of a film of his which he has seen is the 2005 movie Red Eye, starring Rachel McAdams and Brian Cox, and directed by Wes Craven. The Batman Begins star spoke about the psychological thriller, in which he plays a seemingly polite and charming flight passenger, who is ultimately revealed to be part of a terrorist organisation planning to assassinate a US Senator.Murphy said: “I love Rachel McAdams and we had fun making it.

“Oppenheimer” star Cillian Murphy rips into his 2005 movie “Red Eye” in GQ magazine’s latest March cover story.“I love Rachel McAdams and we had fun making it,” Murphy told GQ. “But I don’t think it’s a good movie. It’s a good B movie.”In the psychological thriller, directed by Wes Craven, Murphy plays Jackson Rippner, who’s seated next to Lisa Reisert (McAdams) on a red-eye flight from Dallas to Miami — and whose evil terrorist intentions are revealed once the plane takes off when he tells her he’s going to assassinate the US deputy head of Homeland Security.“When I was a younger actor, I was really, really hard on everything that I was in,” said Murphy (“Peaky Blinders”).

‘Oppenheimer’ is finally coming to Japan despite backlash

Christopher Nolan‘s Oppenheimer has set a cinematic release date in Japan, despite public criticism surrounding the sensitive subject matter of the film. The Cillian Murphy-led biopic is controversial in Japan, where two atomic bombs were detonated in 1945, killing hundreds of thousands of Japanese citizens. The film was released in most territories in July by Universal and went on to gross over $950million at the global box office. But Toho-Towa, which handles most Universal titles in Japan, did not release the film. However, in December it was reported that indie film distributor Bitters End would give the movie a theatrical release in the country.

‘Oppenheimer’ wins big at the Critics Choice Awards – but Cillian Murphy misses out

Oppenheimer has won big at this year’s Critics Choice Awards, but actor Cillian Murphy missed out on receiving the award for Best Actor in one of the main upsets of the night.Christopher Nolan’s epic film about the father of the atomic bomb took home eight awards in total. Nolan earned the award for Best Director and Best Picture, while the film also saw Robert Downey Jr win the award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Lewis Strauss, the former head of the US Atomic Energy Commission.Murphy lost out at the awards however to Paul Giamatti, who won Best Actor for his turn in The Holdovers. Collecting his award for best director, Nolan said: “To mangle a quote from Sir Isaac Newton, ‘If I appear tall it’s because I stand on the shoulders of giants’ – the particular giants I am standing on is Kai (Bird) and Marty (Sherwin) who wrote the incredible book American Prometheus and spent 25 years doing it.“I thank you Kai for trusting me with your work and Marty, unfortunately he left us before I was able to show him the final script, but Kai your constant reassurances once you saw the film that he would have approved meant the world to me.”Downey Jr meanwhile used his acceptance speech for Best Supported Actor to take joking aim at the critics who have reviewed him negatively in the past.He said: “I was thinking this morning, I just love critics… you know, they’ve given me such beautiful feedback, really just so many great moments, and some of it is so poetic.
