A Glasgow nightclub says that safety remains their "highest priority" after another young person died in a suspected drugs death at the venue.
A teen girl collapsed and tragically passed away following a New Year's Day rave at SWG3 on Eastvale Place in the West End of the city. The 18-year-old was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow half an hour after the event finished - but tragically passed away.
Police have since launched a probe into the death and it's understood officers are following a line of enquiry that drugs were involved.
Since opening in 2011, the nightclub has had over 2million guests but the teen is the third young person to die after an event at the venue in the past four months.
Two 18-year-old men died in suspected drugs-related circumstances in August. Scott Allison, 18, from Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire, and Marcus Dick, from nearby Coatbridge, passed away after going to a rave at SWG3 where DJ Ben Hemsley was headlining.
Speaking about this week's tragedy, SWG3 say that staff spotted the 18-year-old was in distress and swiftly intervened and brought her to the venue's medical unit for examination. The on-site medical team called for an ambulance as her condition deteriorated but sadly she died in hospital.
The venue has been closed for the weekend with several upcoming events "paused" while site bosses "re-examine and consider" the factors that led to the recent deaths at club events.
A spokesperson for SWG3 said: "We are truly devastated by the tragic death of a young woman who attended the venue on 1 January, and our thoughts are with her loved ones at this extremely difficult time. Our team has been in direct communication with the family, and we ask that their privacy is
