A suspicious package found at a property in Failsworth has been deemed 'non-viable' by police. The alert led to the evacuation of a number of homes on Ellesmere Street and the surrounding roads this afternoon (March 13).
Emergency services, including officers from Greater Manchester Police and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) were scrambled in a huge multi-agency response.
A large cordon was put in place and people were urged to avoid Ellesmere Street and the surrounding area while a property was inspected at the scene.
