Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray believes Manchester United loanee Amad deserves to be mentioned among the very best players in the Championship as he delivered an injury update on the forward.
The 20-year-old missed the Black Cats' 1-0 win over Norwich City on Sunday with a hamstring problem but Mowbray said after the Carrow Road contest that the injury was not serious one. Sunderland host Sheffield United on Wednesday and Luton Town next weekend and the hope is Amad will be fit for the weekend.
He has eight goals to his name during an impressive campaign that has led Mowbray to talk him up as one of the best players in the second tier.

"Diallo has been amazing for us. One of the best, if not the best, footballer in this league," said the Sunderland chief, speaking to Sky Sports.
"Amad is such an important footballer. I've spoken to Amad. He had a scan. There's no injury, there's no tear, there's no damage. The hamstring looks perfect.
"He's a lad who has never played three successive 90 minutes and he's played 32 of them or something like that. His body is telling him. He's cramping up, his hamstrings are tight, we need to give him a rest, take him off the grass for a few days, let him have a swim, have a massage and a rub down. In a week's time, I think he'll be out there flying again and finish the season strong for us."
Amad joined United from Italian side Atalanta in 2021 and is under contract until 2025 at Old Trafford with the option of a further year. He's made 20 league starts for Sunderland this term and has featured nine times in total for United since his arrival.
