Steph McGovern was in tears today on Channel 4 today as she bid an emotional farewell to Steph's Packed Lunch.
Friday was the last time the show would air after bosses pulled the plug on it, and the presenter took the opportunity to thank fans for being loyal followers for the past three years. Speaking to the camera, Steph said: "We've had a proper laugh doing this show. Thank you for sharing your stories with us and being part of this dysfunctional family. Before we go I thought it would be nice to take a trip down memory lane."
A video montage was then shown of the programme's best bits over the past three years, writes The Mirror.
Channel 4 announced in October but the show was coming to an end due to a change in viewing habits. A statement read: "With audience habits changing quicker than ever, we have to make difficult decisions about which programmes to invest in to best drive our digital-first strategy and we have decided not to recommission Steph's Packed Lunch when its existing production contract ends in December 2023."
Gutted fans took to social media to send their best wishes, with one saying: "Will be watching - how this brilliant programme is being scrapped given the tripe that remains is beyond me. Have a great last show."
Another penned: "Very sad for you and the team. Big, big mistake cancelling it. Have a great last show Steph, you are the best!"
Another said: "Absolutely gutted this is the last show. Channel 4 are bonkers getting rid of all you lovely people.. let’s hope you return soon to our screens. My lunchtimes will never be the same again. Wishing you all the best of luck and the happiest of Christmas, each and everyone one of you are amazing."
