K.J. Yossman Spooky season is still six months away but the folks behind the “Spirit Halloween” movie – yes, the one based on the ubiquitous October pop-up store, which Variety exclusively revealed last month – have given Variety an exclusive sneak peek at the first images of Christopher Lloyd and Rachael Leigh Cook on set as well as more plot details. In “Spirit Halloween,” Lloyd (best known as Doc Brown in “Back to the Future”) plays wealthy land developer Alec Windsor.
Decades ago, one Halloween night, Windsor disappeared without a trace and ever since his cursed spirit is said to haunt the town each year on October 31 for one hour.Meanwhile Cook (“He’s All That”) plays Sue, who has recently remarried after her husband passed away. When a Spirit Halloween store pops up in an abandoned strip mall, Sue’s teenage son Jake and his friends decide to spend the night there for a dare.
But they get more than they bargained for when an angry spirit posses the animatronic characters inside. “The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves,” reads the synopsis. In the snaps, Lloyd, dressed in an old-fashioned coat and hat, is seen leaning against a black car while Cook is pictured looking worried while sat in a vehicle.
Jordan Peele‘s brand new film Nope has it’s final trailer…and the plot details are becoming more clear.
Director Rob Zombie unveiled the first footage from his cinematic spin on ’60s TV classic The Munsters today with an opening credits montage that mirrors the TV show’s, but with his 2022 cast in the roles of Herman, Lily and Grandpa Munster. Missing, however, are appearances from “ugly duckling” Marilyn and the werewolfish Eddie. You can watch it below.
Kate Aurthur editorQuinta Brunson, creator and star of the hit ABC sitcom “Abbott Elementary,” will guest star on the upcoming Starz revival of “Party Down.” The appearance inadvertently leaked during an April 21 taping for Variety‘s Actors on Actors series, in which Brunson was paired with Adam Scott, of both Apple TV+’s “Severance” and the revived Starz series, which ran for two seasons in 2009 and 2010.During the conversation, it became clear that Brunson and Scott knew one another. At one point, Brunson said, “After doing Janine for months straight on ‘Abbott,’ I remember getting so excited to come do another thing in a way that almost felt juvenile,” to which Scott replied, “But that was announced, right? We can say it — you’re guest starring on ‘Party Down.'” “I don’t think that was announced,” Brunson replied.
The next chapter in the “Predator” franchise is near. On Tuesday, 20th Century and Disney+ released the full trailer for “Prey”, an all-new action-thriller from 20th Century Studios directed by Dan Trachtenberg.
“Prey” also features a cast comprised almost entirely of Native American and First Nation talent, including star Amber Midthunder (“The Ice Road,” “Roswell, New Mexico”) alongside newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp (“Sooyii”), Michelle Thrush (“The Journey Home”) and Julian Black Antelope (“Tribal”). The movie also stars Dane DiLiegro (“American Horror Stories”) as the Predator. What’s more, “Prey” also has a Comanche producer in Jhane Myers, who produces alongside “The Predator” producer John Davis and Marty Ewing.
Several stars have been confirmed to return for the sixth installment in the Scream movie series, but unfortunately, we just received word that one star will not be back.
