Former Love Island star Shaughna Phillips has shed some light on rumours that contestants are bound by a 'secret contract' to stay together for a certain amount of time after leaving the show. Speaking in her final exclusive OK! column this week, the 28-year-old 2020 star shut down the idea of restrictions having been put in place by producers. "Everyone always asks me if it’s true that there’s a contract in place where they have to stay with each other," she revealed.
"Which is absolutely not the case. That does not exist. "I think that would be against human rights!" Despite being overjoyed for this year's winners Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti, Shaughna has said she cannot see them or any of the other couples remaining 'happy families' for much longer. "I've said before that I can’t really see any of the couples lasting that long on the outside, but we will see.
I’m not sure who will be the first to split, it’s hard to say. "I wanted Ekin-Su and Davide to win," she continues. "So I was very happy with the result.
And they won by a landslide too. They absolutely smashed it. "I was very surprised with the order, though. I must admit I was expecting Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page to come second.
I thought Gemma Owen and Luca Bish may have come third. "I wasn’t that surprised by Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope, as I think Dami’s Casa Amor antics ruined their chances." Despite her skepticism about the longevity of this year' couples, she believes if any of them can make it in the long run, it's the Turkish diva and Italian stallion. "So many couples from the show end up splitting because things are very different on the outside," Shaughna tells us.
