A shamed Scots GP who was found guilty of sexually abusing at least 47 patients has been stripped of his MBE.
Krishna Singh was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by the late Queen in 2013 for his services to healthcare.
But the 73-year-old was later unmasked as a sexual predator who targeted dozens of women and children he was supposed to be helping.
Singh, from North Lanarkshire, kissed, groped, gave inappropriate examinations and made sleazy comments to his victims over a 35 year period.
One of his victim’s included a woman who had been raped as well as teenagers and a pregnant patient. He was found guilty of 54 charges following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow and jailed for 12 years in May 2022.
He has since been struck off by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service. The Cabinet Office has now confirmed that Singh’s honours title has been scrapped.
In a statement, they said: “The King has directed that the appointment of Krishna Ballabh Prasad SINGH to be a Member of the Civil Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, dated 15 June 2013, shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order.”
We previously told how The Honours Forfeiture Committee were set to meet to discuss removing Singh’s MBE following his conviction. The watchdog automatically considers cases where a person has been found guilty of an offence which carries a sentence of more than three months in prison.
Singh qualified as a doctor in India in 1974. He registered with the General Medical Council as a doctor in November 1976 before taking up a job as a GP in North Lanarkshire. Singh also took up a position as a police casualty surgeon between 2005 and 2010 in
