Adnan Syed, the subject of the hit 2014 podcast Serial, was released from prison last September after 23 years, but now his murder conviction has been reinstated.

NBC News reports that the conviction was reinstated after victim Hae Min Lee‘s family “arguing that they were not properly notified of the efforts to release Syed last year.”
After the family filed an appeal, the appeals court ruled in their favor and a new hearing will be held. In the meantime, the murder charges have been reinstated.
So, will Adnan be sent back to prison?
“Tuesday’s decision and the new hearing are seen as a procedural issue, and there is no reason to believe Syed will be sent back to prison. The prosecutor has indicated that there is evidence pointing to other suspects and that the investigation is ongoing,” NBC News is reporting.
Lee‘s family said in a statement, “We are equally pleased that the Appellate Court is directing the lower court to conduct a transparent hearing where the evidence will be presented in open court and the court’s decision will be based on evidence for the world to see.”

The Hollywood Reporter, McKay is planning on a late summer shoot in Boston. The project doesn’t yet have a studio backer and “several” have already passed.
Oscar-winner Adam McKay has lines up Rob Pattinson, Amy Adams, Robert Downey Jr., Forest Whitaker and Till’s Danielle Deadwyler to head the ensemble of his next directing vehicle. Titled Average Height, Average Build, the script and that package is out to studios and streamers, and the intention is to get it into production by late summer or early fall.
What’s Adam McKay have on his mind as a follow-up to 2021’s “Don’t Look Up“? At the Tribeca Film Festival last year, McKay hinted that he was working on a script all about “big, dirty money,” ostensibly about the USA’s corrupt corporate and financial sectors.
