A woman has been left 'stressed and upset' after being racially abused on a bus in Edinburgh city centre.
The 41-year-old, who wants to remain anonymous, was travelling home from shopping in the Southside area of the city on Sunday, September 10 when the incident happened.
She claims that a man, who got on at the Nicolson Square stop, struck her intentionally with his wheelchair before making racial comments at her for the duration of the journey.
Speaking to Edinburgh Live she said: "It was Sunday afternoon, I was travelling home and he got on at the same bus stop as me. He saw me sitting down and hit his wheelchair off my knee.
"It was intentional and then he started to shout at me all the way from Nicolson Square to Leith Walk. It was so busy on the bus and there was a lot of traffic but he continuously cursed me and wouldn't stop.
"He said f*** your man f*** your cover f*** your religion f*** your country. Then he called me a letterbox- and bank robber.
"He also called me Robin Hood and so many other curses and bad words. I tried to just look out the window and I was so nervous that I could barely hear what he was saying.
"I asked him to stop five times and said if he didn't I would call the police but he did not care, he kept going even when I was on the phone to the police."
Despite other passengers getting involved and the threat of being reported to the police, the man continued to shout comments at the woman.
She continued: "A Scottish lady told me she would be a witness and when he noticed I was on the phone to the police he still would not stop.
"It has happened a few times before but others who witnessed the incidents intervened and it was much shorter. I had gone shopping to cheer myself up and get some fresh air
