Firefighters battled for more than 13 hours to contain a blaze at an industrial estate in Fife.
In all, six fire engines were sent from across the Kingdom to battle the fire at Frances Industrial Estate on Wemyss Road in Dysart, near Kirkcaldy. A water bowser – a giant mobile water tank – was also sent to the scene to provide additional support, along with a height appliance and a major incident command vehicle.
Efforts to extinguish the fire were so intensive that Scottish Water had to issue an alert to locals, warning them of low pressure and discoloured water while firefighters were connected to nearby fire hydrants. After arriving on scene at around 3.30pm, fire officers remained on site until 4.30am.
Despite the scale of the fire, no injuries have been reported. Images provided to the Record show huge plumes of smoke erupting into the sky from the estate.
However, at least one business has been destroyed as a result of the blaze. Star Performance Ltd, a vehicle repair shop, has suspended customer appointments after its premises suffered extensive damage.
In a post on its Facebook page, the business said: "We are devastated that our family business of over 30 years was destroyed by a fire yesterday. Thankfully nobody was injured.
"We kindly ask for your patience at this terrible time and if you have an upcoming booking please email us."
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted to a fire at a commercial premises in Wemyss Road, Dysart, at 3.23pm on Saturday April 15. We sent six appliances to the scene as well as a high reach and command vehicle.
"We also sent a water bowser from Larbert fire station to provide assistance. We remained on scene until 4.35am on Sunday."
