A woman has been charged for allegedly selling cannabis to high school children in Wishaw after a tip off to police.
Officers acted after becoming aware of an address where young people were believed to be going to buy drugs.
They attended an address at Harestone Crescent on Thursday, May 4, in possession of a drugs search warrant where entry was forced.
Officers they found a quantity of controlled drugs believed to be prepared for sale and recovered around 142 grams of cannabis with an estimated street value of £1,110.
A 57-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with possession with intent to supply controlled drugs. She was released on undertaking to appear at Hamilton Sherriff Court at a later date.
Area Inspector, Alan Mulholland said: “As part of our commitment to safeguard the communities we serve, we became aware of an address where young people were believed to be attending to buy drugs. Our Local Policing Plan commits to reducing harm caused by substances, and as such illicit drugs continue to be a key focus in protecting the most vulnerable of our society.
"We will continue to prioritise and uncover those who sell drugs in the local area and we will continue to take robust action, particularly against people who are praying on children with profit in mind.
“I would appeal to anyone with any concerns or information regarding drugs misuse to make contact with Wishaw Community Police on 101 where one of our team will be happy to offer advice and support or you can report this anonymously at Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111”.
