Whether you're booking a break for the whole family, with your other half, or even a four-legged friend, sometimes nothing beats a simple stay at a caravan park. We are blessed with plenty of these all over Scotland, which can make settling on one a tricky affair.
Luckily, the "best caravan site in the UK" was recently awarded by outdoor specialists at Go Outdoors. According to the experts, the title belongs to Auchenlarie Holiday Park in Dumfries and Galloway.
Situated near Castle Douglas, the caravan park features spellbinding views over Wigtown Bay, with miles of unspoilt landscape nearby just waiting to be explored. It features amenities such as a heated indoor swimming pool, a bistro, a number of bars, and a shop.

As reported by the Daily Express, a two-night stay over a weekend in June at Auchenlarie Holiday Park is currently available for £60. This equates to just £30 per person for two people pitching up in a caravan.
However, it is important to note that prices will vary based on the type of accommodation you book.
Campers can pick from grass or hardstanding pitches, all of which feature 16-amp electric hook-ups and awning space. Meanwhile, those looking to indulge in a touch of luxury can book furnished 'S-Pods' for two that boast en-suite facilities.
Elsewhere, there are also options for holidaymakers looking for a more spacious retreat. The site's bronze, silver, and gold static caravans and lodges sleep up to six guests, with dog-friendly options available.
Meanwhile, there are plenty of things to see
