Fans of Saturday Night Takeaway were left “cheated” after a new documentary offered them a look behind the scenes at how the show is made. Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, first aired in 2002 and has been beloved by the British public ever since.
With hilarious stunts and genius segments, the show also features some of the biggest talents around, with past cameos including former X Factor star Fleur East, Kerry Katona, Daisy May Cooper, Helen Flanagan and Alesha Dixon. Saturday Night Takeaway: Behind the Screens follows Ant and Dec, who also host I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, as they peel back the curtain on the show.
The special shows how celebrity guest stars are booked, how challenges are rehearsed and how the crew prepares for the live show. But the revelation frustrated some fans who thought specific segments were live when they were actually prerecorded.They discovered that Ant and Dec’s End of the Show Show with singer Tom Grennan in a moving dressing room was actually filmed in advance and required several takes to nail the complicated choreography.
This left a sour taste in the mouths of fans who believed that the show-stopping performance was all live, with many taking to Twitter to voice their distaste. "I thought the End of the Show Show was always live," one fan quipped on social media.
