Saltburn's Barry Keoghan's life off screen from son to rumoured pop star romance

Saltburn star Barry Keoghan has been making moves over the last few years, and it doesn’t look as though he has any plans to stop anytime soon. Despite his young age, he’s already appeared in a number of major films and TV series, and has even been nominated for an Oscar. From Dunkirk to The Killing of a Sacred Deer to his BAFTA Best Actor in a Supporting Role nomination for Calm with Horses, for Barry, it hasn’t always been all glamour and Hollywood.
The 30 year old Love/Hate star grew up in Summerhill, Dublin alongside his brother, Eric.
The siblings had a pretty turbulent childhood, and spent seven years living between 13 different foster homes.
His mother struggled with drug addiction, and when he was just 12 years old, she sadly died of a heroin overdose. Following this, the brothers were taken into care and then raised by their aunt and grandmother. Barry has been pretty open about his hard past, and has spoken out about hoping to inspire other young people to follow their dreams.
He even admitted that he didn’t expect his life to pan out this way, especially when you’ve got “13 foster homes” written on your CV. But after answering an advertisement he spotted in a local shop for Between the Canals in 2011, he was offered a small role and began his ascent to success. At age 18, he decided to enrol at The Factory in Dublin to study acting, and in the same year appeared in Fair City.
What followed was his TV big break in Love/Hate, in which he portrayed Wayne, the “infamous cat killer.” And in career terms, the rest is history...
