Since The Traitors kicked off earlier this month, we've been getting to know the contestants hoping to walk away with the huge cash prize. Mollie Pearce is one of the Faithfuls hoping to weed out the last of the Traitors ahead of the final on Friday, 26 January. Disability model Mollie, 21, from Bristol, has a stoma bag after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when she was just 11 years old.
This is a long-term condition where the colon, the large intestine, becomes inflamed.
In Mollie’s case, it was so severe that doctors took the decision to remove her colon three years ago. Mollie is not shy about her stoma bag. Instead, she proudly sports it on her social media platforms and even recommends stylish stoma-friendly underwear.
She shared that before her massive operation, she was frequently in hospital, calling it her "second home". In spite of appearing perfectly healthy, Mollie explained colitis as a "vicious disease which will tear you up from the inside out" and confessed there were times she could barely climb the stairs at home due to intense pain. Recalling the moment that would change her life forever, Mollie wrote on Instagram: “This is a post I hoped I would never have to write.
On the 30th of September, I went to the hospital for a check-up and ended up being admitted due to the severity of my symptoms. I didn’t think in a million years my biggest fear was about to come true. “I have been fighting ulcerative colitis for 8 years and last week it finally won when I had to say goodbye to my colon forever.
