Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Welsh actor Alexander Vlahos, known for his roles in TV series such as “Merlin,” “Outlander” and “Versailles,” is set to play a British ornithologist who, during a field trip to Sicily, gets involved in more than mere birdwatching. Shooting is underway in Sicily on the indie drama “Hearts of Salt,” the first feature by London-based line producer Rosa Russo. The passion project is structured as a three-way co-production between Italy, the U.K. and Tunisia, with shooting also planned in the North African country. Tunisia will serve as a second location besides the Italian island. Though plot details are scarce, “Hearts of Salt” will see Vlahos — who will soon be seen opposite Lindsay Lohan in the Netflix rom-com “Irish Wish” — arrive in Sicily on a mission to study the effects of climate change on bird migrations. However, the ornithologist will soon have to abandon his role as a detached observer of flight patterns in the Sicilian skies after witnessing a series of dramatic events on the ground comprising cultural and generational clashes, a growing disconnect in family and human ties, and the broader ecological crisis which is the overall backdrop against which “Hearts of Salt” is set.

Shannen Doherty is putting on a happy face. The star was seen out for one of the first times since announcing she has stage 4 brain cancer, and she appeared to be in good spirits. On Thursday, Shannen was spotted outside the Soho House in Malibu, California, where she had dinner with her mother, Rosa Doherty. The 52-year-old actress, who was dressed in jeans, a navy sweater, reflective sunglasses, and held a blazer, smiled at cameras as she made her way to her vehicle. The sighting comes after Shannen has shared several photos and videos of herself in the hospital amid her cancer battle. Most recently on June 14, she posted a video where she's seen preparing to undergo brain surgery.

Meghan Markle’s former show "Suits" will be made available to watch on Saturday, which happens to be the same day as King Charles III’s birthday parade.  Trooping the Colour, a royal tradition going back hundreds of years to King Charles II’s 17th-century reign, is held every summer to celebrate the monarch’s birthday.  Markle and her husband Prince Harry might be in the position to stream her former show from their California home as they have reportedly not been invited to the royal tradition, despite quietly attending Queen Elizabeth II’s final Trooping the Colour last summer during her platinum jubilee celebrations.  Buckingham Palace and Archewell, Harry and Markle's company, had no comment for People magazine, which first reported that the Sussexes weren't invited, and did not immediately return Fox News Digital’s request for comment. Late last month, Netflix announced that Markle’s show "Suits," which she starred in from 2011 to 2018, would drop on the streaming service on June 17.The show had previously been available on other streaming services like Peacock.  The Duchess of Sussex was mainly known for her role as attorney Rachel Zane on the USA legal drama before she left acting ahead of her lavish 2018 royal wedding to Prince Harry at Windsor Castle.  The couple participated in their first Trooping the Colour in 2018 following their wedding.  While Markle’s character was written out of "Suits" after its seventh season because of her royal engagement, the drama lasted nine seasons, which will all be available to binge as counter programming to Charles’ royal pomp.

National Geographic has announced a documentary special with the working title of “The Cancer Vaccine.”The documentary special will follow Uğur Şahin and Özlem Türeci – the husband-and-wife team who built German biotechnology giant BioNTech and created the Pfizer BioNTech COVID Vaccine — as they compete in the race to find a cure for cancer.The film will chronicle Şahin and Türeci’s creation of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine, which came out of mRNA technology that, for years, had been considered useless. The couple has their own team, with whom they face competitors, skeptics, government officials and the disease itself.
