Marvin Bartley hailed his side for showing tremendous character to bounce back with a four-midable win at Montrose.
Queens were beaten 5-0 by Hamilton Accies last week but won 4-1 away to the Gable Endies on Saturday with a very impressive first half display.
The South went in at the break 4-0 up thanks to doubles from Lee Connelly and Alex Ferguson.
Marvin said: “It’s not easy to bounce back like that because losing 5-0 dents your confidence.
“But they trained ever so hard this week, they stuck to what we said we wanted to do before the game and went out and carried it out.
“That’s down to the players because once they cross that white line it’s down to them but their professionalism, work rate, endeavour, they showed everything this squad has got.
“It shows when they put their mind to it what they really can do and I couldn’t be any more delighted for them.”
He added: “That was brilliant. There’s been a lot of talking done recently from us as a squad internally and I felt the players today were fantastic.
“They worked ever so hard off the ball, there were some real moments of magic, especially in the first half, to go in 4-0 up. It showed a massive bounce back from last week.
“To a man they were brilliant, when we brought the subs on they brought more energy and it was fantastic to get Lewis Currie on at the end to make his debut.
“Unfortunately for the lads they didn’t get their clean sheet but the most important thing today was three points and they did that.”
Queens weren’t just battling the Links Park side on Saturday but the elements as well as torrential rain battered the pitch.
Bartley said: “The conditions were tough and to be honest it probably suited us with the pitch being as slick as it was.
