Police packed up evidence from the home of Nicola Sturgeon and Peter Murrell following a two-day search as the probe into finances at the Scottish National Party continues.
Three police cars and an evidence van left the scene after the couple's house in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, was first raided by officers on Wednesday morning. It followed the arrest of Mr Murrell, the former SNP Chief Executive.
The 58-year-old was later released without charge, pending further investigation after being questioned for almost 12 hours.
A heavy police presence remained at the property throughout Thursday before officers packed up a blue police tent that had been stationed on the driveway and boxes of evidence.
A van believed to be containing evidence found during the search was also taken away last night.
Neighbours said they hadn't seen the couple at the house since Wednesday morning.
One man said she saw Ms Sturgeon leaving with just her purse under her arm at around 8am. He said: "We've not seen either of them return home yet."
During Wednesday’s large-scale raid, police were seen combing the garden area of the property and photographing garden tools and a BBQ.
A witness at the scene said: "The police appear to be gathering further evidence in the garden. They are photographing all of his garden tools individually - his shears, spades and trowels.
"It seems to have been taken from a garden storage unit instead of a shed."
Another neighbour said she feared there had been a murder on the quiet cul-de-sac when she saw the heavy police presence.
She added: “When I first saw the volume of police and the tent being erected I thought someone had been hurt. It was like a murder scene.
"There was even armed police here at one point. I also noticed them
