A former constable has been sacked from Merseyside police after sending racist WhatsApp messages. Samantha Simpson was dismissed without notice after a misconduct hearing found she had breached the standards of professional behaviour.
She had worked at Merseyside police since July 2017, the Liverpool Echo reports. A misconduct hearing held at Merseyside police headquarters on Tuesday, June 6 this year found that Simpson, who also plays outside backs for Warrington Wolves, had breached police conduct regulations on multiple occasions between July 2019 to January 2022.
It was found that most of the breaches were in the form of WhatsApp message, where Simpson repeatedly used the racial slur "P***”. Screenshots of the WhatsApp messages, sent between Simpson and her former boyfriend Ben Jones, where shown in the hearing.
